The marina is located 33 miles north of Old Saybrook. The river is easy to navigate but those new to the river are advised to stay within the wide channel, which is well marked. The swing bridge at Haddam provides approximately 15 ft. clearance at normal high tide and opens for pleasure boat traffic on the half-hour.

Portland is an ideal stop for those cruising to Hartford, which is 20 miles farther north. The cruise to Hartford passes through some of the most beautiful sections of the Connecticut River.

Planned Closure of Old Lyme Drawbridge, March 5 to March 7, 2012

There is a preliminary request to the U.S. Coast Guard for a closure of the Old Lyme Drawbridge on the Connecticut River from 0700 on March 5, 2012, to 2300 on March 7, 2012, to replace a bearing. The closure has yet to be approved. If it is approved, the bridge will be chained in the down position, but the navigational channel will be open with the usual overhead clearance restriction.
